I still long for the heyday of gay bars. Between us becoming more equal (which is a good thing) and the internet, I feel that many of us have become disconnected from one another. That’s why I am thrilled that my buddy, Kevin, created a social group on Facebook. While it is a private group, all are welcome to join (whether you’re a man or a woman). It is called, ”Baltimore and the Burbs Gay Social Network.” Kevin went as far as creating pins so that newcomers could recognize group members at various events. And, do readers want to know what the best part is about this group? Social Networking. For example, a member of Baltimore & The Burbs Gay Social Network is associated with Universal. He posted an update about Charm City Drag Wars. I attended the venue, and I had such a great time. Plus, I made some new acquaintances out of the experience. And new acquaintances means that I’m expanding my circle of connections, making it even more possible for someone (out there) to introduce me to the guy who could become my future husband. Because my Momma always said, “The best way to find a mate is through acquaintances and friends.” In closing, there is another group member who is networking his ass off to bring Baltimore a queer film festival. And, it was through his group posting that I learned about this upcoming festival (which I will be attending). So, if you’re a queer citizen of Baltimore and/0r its’ suburbs, you really should join Baltimore and the Burbs Gay Social Network. Because your future husband, or new BFF, or future favorite pastime might be found within the confines of this private group.
At any rate, I’m going to move on to another topic which is related to this online group: Artwork. I don’t know the first thing about graphic design, illustration, or computer animation. However, I do know how to play with things until I come up with a cool design (albeit one which leans on the amateur side of things). So, I decided to do my magic on a new cover photo for our group. The new cover has two things going for it that I absolutely love: 1) A photo that I took of Baltimore’s skyline. 2) The group’s logo which was created by the founder.
