Standard Bank Centre

Standard Bank Centre Johannesburg South AfricaSince I am such an admirer of skyscrapers, I find it fitting to talk about the coolest building completed in 1968.  It is the futuristic, South African skyscraper called, “Standard Bank Centre.”  At 34 floors and 456 feet, it was the tallest building, in Johannesburg, until Marble Towers opened up in 1973.  Heck!  The tallest building in Davenport, Iowa (which is where I was living in 1968) was the Wells Fargo Building (standing at 240 feet).
